Steelers' Roethlisberger restructures contract
PITTSBURGH -- Channel 11 News has learned Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has restructured his contract to save the team money against the salary cap.
The restructuring is expected to save the Steelers $8 million next season.
In the meantime, Steelers General Manager Kevin Colbert talked with Rick Walsh in Indianapolis on Thursday.
Colbert said the Steelers want to do everything possible to keep wide receiver Mike Wallace, who is set to become a restricted free agent.
Colbert also said a decision on wide receiver Hines Ward would be made in the next two weeks.
Colbert said there will be tough decisions that the team will have to make but they will make decisions that are in the best interest of the team.
The Steelers are planning to restructure a few more contracts to get under the salary cap and will release a few more guys.
